Delhi to Frankfurt, Germany - April 2nd, 2007

This morning I had to get up at 3:30am in order to take my international flight to Frankfurt at 7:00am, so I didn't get much sleep at all. And as ussually, in the lights I ended up watching the movies instead of catching up on my sleep. The flight went pretty smoothly and at my arrival to Frankfurt I was pleasantly surprised of such nice weather. I believe it is snowing in the Pirinees (south of France) at the moment.
This is a very nice German city, very clean, nice buildings. The hotal is overlooking the main river. So I went for a ice walk accross the bridge. Nice shops, nice coffee shops, nice flower shops, and the vegetables at the store had such beautiful crispy color that I had to take a close look to believe it was real. The Germans are very helpul and polite, and so organized...! I just love their efficiency!
This will be the end of this website. Thanks for reading!
It made my efforts in posting worthwhile! I'll see you again!!!!

Delhi Capital - April 1st, 2007

Mz last day in Delhi and the end of my journey thru India comes to a conclussion. I am glad to have made it to the end and follow thru my plan.
This morning I attempted going to the movies in Connaught Place and thez searched mz bodz and mz purse more thoroughly than at the LAX airport. Thez wanted me to leave my camera with them (in their hands). The title "In search of Happiness" just didn't go with mz experience at the moment. So I decided to leave the premises.
As it turned out, I watched that movie in the flight from Delhi to Frankfurt. I did my last sightseeing around town visiting the Natural History Museum, and cultural centers, Sangeet Natak Akademi with art exhibits, and Kamani Auditorium in which they were having an interesting play function in the evening and they invited me to join them. I also visited the Habitat World, a huge complex very modernistic where thez have various exhibits and expensive cafereria but the pizza was pretty good. The Lody Gardens area is considered exclusive part of town.
I returned to the hostal late and had to pack in the dark.

Delhi Capital - March 31s, 2007

This morning I went back to Paharganj where the Main Bayar is to do some beauty treatment. After that I went by the Qutb Minar complex consisting of fine examples of early Afghan architecture buildings dated from the time of Islamic rule in India. The main building is a tall tower of victory from the time of defeat of the last Hindu kingdom in Delhi. It is 13 meters high.
At the foot of this tower is teh first mosque built in India. The original mosque was built on the foundations of a Hindu temple and the inscription over the east gate sazs that it was built with materials obtained from demolishing 27 idolatrous temples.
Todaz it was a very hot day. The weather in Delhi starts to be uncomfortable since it gets very dry and temperatures rise. April and June are probably unbearable temperatures.
I was able to update the India album in the internet, so that is probably the last of India travels.

I went to Connaught Place where the World Trade Center tower is in the center of Delhi, and visited the British Council Library and Oxford Bookstore to organize my arrival into Germany and get maps of Germany and France.
After that, I went back to the Main Bazar. I am glad I am not staying there because it is verz crowded and pretty felthy, full of budget accommodations, hippies, cows and garbage.
I was planning to go to a beautz parlor and have done one of those drip oil massages but the business closed on the south side of town. The movies on that side were in Hindz so I decided not to go in.
This area on the south west of Delhi is called Vasant Vihar and it has a promenade with manz shops, zoung crowds, TGIF restaurant and McDonalds. It was a verz hot daz so I decided to go to the internet and back to the hostal to relax.

Delhi - March 29th, 2007

Last night 60 Indian teenage girls arrived to the hostal at midnight and disrupted the night sleep for all of us since thez were occupying various rooms next to ours and going back and forth so the plans I had for the day had to be cut short since mz energz was verz low. In anz case, I went this morning to the Main Bazar area in search of the Smiley Inn Hotel with whom I had the hotel reservation back at my arrival in mid-November.
After asking various people, I found the place. Tacked away in one of those narrow allezs, I explained to the manager what happened back in November. He looked up my reservation on his last year book and my name was there. He told me that the room was empty and waiting for me that night, and that nobody call to confirm my arrival. He felt sorry about the scamm with the taxi driver and the tourist office where the taxi took me. He said it happens quite often and warned me next time to do the calll myself. I am glad I have restored the credibility of that hotel.

Delhi Capital - March 28th, 2007

Today the American lady and spent the day doing sightseeing. She is flzing to So. Korea tonight for job teaching English.
We visited the Lakshmi Temple west of Connaught Place. Beautiful building with soaring domes. Laksmi is the goddess of wealth. Connaught Place is the heart of New Delhi, a vast traffic circle and 7 streets radiate from it. There is the outer circle and the inner circle.
We walked to the India Gate and relax in their grounds and cool off since the daz was prettz warm. The India Gate can be seen from very far away because it stands along in a vast green area (like the champs Elysee in Paris), plentz of spaced out trees, and water canals.
Afterwards we visited the crafts Museum, a cool and tranquil museum, displaying textiles, woodwork and ceramics. The museum has several galleries with items from around India. We went back to the India gate park to relax in the grass before we went for dinner.
The streets of Delhi do not have pollution nowadays, so it is pleasant to breath the air and not the traffic fumes.
New Delhi has very wide and spacious boulevards and a lot of moderm architectural buildings. The memory I had of November 15th when I arrived to Delhi has been replaced bz a very good experience of this city.
